21 September
First day of autumn

In the northern hemisphere, the beginning of autumn is conventionally identified around September 23: on that date, the equinox occurs. The end of the season is instead scheduled for December 21, when the winter solstice takes place. The beginning and the end of autumn are dictated by the movements of the Sun, which in the indicated dates enters the sign of Libra and leaves the one of Sagittarius respectively: the other sign of the season is Scorpio.
In the southern hemisphere, the term "autumn" is defined as the period from March 21st to June 21st: during this time, in the opposite part of the globe, spring is underway. Meteorologically, the season runs from 1 September to 30 November.
